Below are some minimum expectations for band members, failure to adhere to these may result is disciplinary action including removal from the marching band.
Attendance:
Marching band has significant interdependencies, a single person missing impacts the quality and effectiveness of our rehearsals and shows.
All rehearsals and performances are mandatory. Acceptable reasons to miss are sickness/injury (with doctor’s note), death in the family, or religious observance. It is expected that the absence/tardiness be communicated in writing in advance of the rehearsal/performance. To communicate in writing send an e-mail to Mr. Hunter at rchunter@wcpss.net. If you cannot communicate in advance via e-mail it is expected that you call Mr. Hunter (919) 856-3751 in advance and explain the circumstance on the band phone. Once you are able to communicate in writing via e-mail do so for the record.
Failure to do the above may result in termination from the marching band and forfeiture of any fees or fair share, as outlined in the marching band financial agreement and fair share policy.
After School Supervision:
If a student remains at school more than 20 minutes after the final bell for a scheduled band activity:
Unless a student is under the direct supervision of another teacher he/she should be exactly where the schedule posted on the band room dictates, or he/she will be viewed as non-compliant and may be sent home. This is a key part of our school safety and security plan for students.
Continued non-compliance may result in termination from the marching band and forfeiture of related fees or fair share, as outlined in the marching band financial agreement and fair share policy.
Standing Rules/Policies:
The following is an attempt to put some of our standing policies in writing where everyone involved in the band will be keenly aware of them. Understand that not everything can be anticipated and/or written down. Additionally all WCPSS student policies apply to the band regardless of location. Failure to adhere to all of the policies below may result in termination from the marching band and forfeiture of related fees.
